The hook is very strong and well made. Installing it required me to purchase a $25 drill bit as I couldn’t, at 98lb, simply stand on the cross bar to push it into the ground! I have rigged some U shaped bolts to hold my 3 lb suet (hot pepper) from the top and so far the squirrels haven’t been able to get to it as they grew accustomed to the pepper when I had it hanging on a tree. This means no more pileated woodpeckers as they’re too big for this set up but all the others have been visiting.
